VIDEO GAMES: RULE 2
Design your interface so that it looks sleek and classy. Make sure the player can easily access the controls. If they cannot, they won't play your game. "The interface is the dashboard. If it isn't elegant, if people cant make it work for them, rather than the other way around- then no matter how powerful the engine under the bonnet, everything else has gone to waste." that was a quote from a book called Strategy Games by Dave Morris and Leo Hartas. I think that It is true

BOARD GAMES: RULE 1
This is probably just common sense, but make sure the board fits the game and the rules. It's very important. if you don't it will be completely different than you wanted it to be. Imagine if monopoly were played with hexagonal spaces covering the board. would the game be different?
EVERY GAME: RULE 2
Write down EVERY rule! If you do then you are not likely to have any mess ups when you actually create the game or sell it.
EVERY GAME: RULE 1
Make sure your game will capture your audience's attention. This is a must! If it isn't interesting it won't get anyone to play it. If people do play it and it doesn't, then no matter the game play, people won't recommend it to others, and you will get less customers than if you did.
VIDEO GAMES: RULE 1
This post will teach you the basics of what I have learned about designing video games. The first step that I took was writing out the rules, because my game was only multiplayer and had very little storyline. If your game has a storyline, I would recommend writing that out before the rules, because the rules are shaped by the story. For example, if you write out the rules before the storyline, you could have some features of your story that could not be in the game because of the rules. More posts will be put on once I am finished with the layout and design of my blog.
